Semiconductor Platform

Connecting the Slovak semiconductor ecosystem.

The Semiconductor Platform is a shared space for companies, professional organisations, research and academic institutions and other stakeholders involved in the development of semiconductors, microelectronics and electronics in Slovakia.

Its goal is to connect Slovak industry with the Slovak Chips Competence Centre – SK CHIPS Competence Centre, to create room for mutual cooperation, to identify the needs of Slovak companies and to jointly find solutions that help build a competitive semiconductor ecosystem in Slovakia.

The platform also gives its members a space to bring concrete suggestions, problems and proposals from practice and to help shape the environment for the further development of the semiconductor industry.

What the Semiconductor Platform focuses on

The platform’s main areas of activity include:

  • connecting and coordinating the Slovak semiconductor industry with the SK CHIPS Competence Centre,
  • identifying the needs, problems and challenges of Slovak companies,
  • supporting start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises and large companies active in semiconductors, microelectronics and electronics,
  • creating new business and cooperation opportunities,
  • connecting Slovak companies with research organisations, the Slovak Academy of Sciences and foreign partners,
  • supporting research, development, innovation and technology transfer,
  • linking the academic and research community with industry,
  • improving Slovak companies’ access to the services of the SK CHIPS Competence Centre,
  • creating a more favourable investment and business environment for the semiconductor sector,
  • providing input for legislative and strategic measures related to semiconductors,
  • supporting education, talent development and the creation of professional networks,
  • supporting the fulfilment of the Slovak Republic’s obligations under the European Chips Act.

The platform’s ambition is for Slovak companies to be not just individual players, but part of a connected ecosystem able to cooperate at national and European level.

How the Semiconductor Platform was established

The Semiconductor Platform was established by the Association of Industrial Unions and Transport – APZD with effect from 1 March 2026 as an independent working group focused on supporting the development of Slovak companies active in semiconductors, microelectronics and electronics.

The platform responds to the need to connect Slovak industry, research, the academic sector and the activities of the SK CHIPS Competence Centre more closely, and to create a common space through which the needs of the Slovak semiconductor sector can be systematically identified.

The platform also makes it possible to coordinate the activities of Slovak industry with the SK CHIPS Competence Centre and to create conditions for companies to make more effective use of its services, projects and other cooperation opportunities.

The platform is chaired by the Secretary General of APZD, and its vice-chair is the Director of the Slovak Chips Competence Centre.

The platform thus serves as a common point of contact between Slovak industry and the national competence centre for semiconductors.

Who are the platform’s members

The Semiconductor Platform brings together representatives of companies and institutions interested in actively contributing to the development of the Slovak semiconductor ecosystem.

These are mainly organisations active in:

semiconductors • microelectronics • electronics • research and development • chip design • manufacturing technologies • materials • testing • advanced packaging • power electronics • sensors • education and other related fields

The platform is open to all types of organisations – from start-ups through small and medium-sized enterprises to large industrial companies, as well as relevant research, academic and professional institutions.

Members can take an active part in the platform’s work, bring their own proposals, suggestions and solutions, comment on the topics under discussion and contribute to joint positions and initiatives.

The platform’s work also includes ongoing mapping of the Slovak semiconductor industry and identifying further companies and start-ups that could get involved in its activities.
